You’re probably familiar with the adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. For many children that is what orthodontics mean. Early detection and prevention is one of the best ways to prevent the loss of permanent teeth due to overcrowding and extraction.
About a third of our patients are adults. We stress non-extraction orthodontics to achieve beautiful wide and full smiles. Many orthodontic practices will offer an approach that requires removal of one or more teeth, but we strongly believe it should be the last approach and only when necessary.
When possible, a child should have their first orthodontic exam as early as age seven and ideally, before the age of nine. Early diagnosis and treatment by a specialist can help guide facial growth and tooth eruption, and prevent more serious problems from developing. Our goal is to reduce treatment time in full braces and t provide the best and most stable results possible.
