Orthodontic Treatment Fees Explained | E&S Orthodontics

In this edition of Friday Focus, Dr. Ousama of E&S Orthodontics, your orthodontist in Metro Phoenix, explains why orthodontic treatment costs can vary from practice to practice.

Many orthodontic patients are surprised that the cost of braces can vary dramatically from practice to practice, because they assume the treatment plan and results should be similar. I am here to tell you that comparing orthodontic treatment plan fees is like a shopping experience. As you “shop around”, you will find that different practices and different doctors are going to employ different systems within their offices to address your orthodontic needs – which results in different treatment fees.

So what causes fees to be higher in one office than another?

One answer is as simple as the fact some practices accept certain insurances and some do not – which translates into a difference in patient out-of-pocket fees.

Or a patient may choose a low-end orthopedic service because they’re searching for braces at the deepest discount. What needs to be kept in mind when choosing this type of service is the difference between the Dollar Store or Walmart versus going to Macy’s, Dillard’s or Nordstrom. Though you may get a less expensive fee, you may not get the high level of treatment experience or the result you are looking for.

Because there is a wide range of treatments that orthodontic offices can provide, it’s really up to you to fish out and study the different treatment options. Of course, fees are a big consideration. But you should also match the patient experience that you receive in the doctor’s office to the type of service or treatment you’re going to get to achieve the smile of your dreams.

When it comes to making healthcare decisions, we always recommend keeping your pocketbook out of the decision process. You need to be aware that, from office to office, there will be a difference in fees for the aforementioned reasons.

Think of it this way. If you’re looking for exceptional orthodontic service, there’s a difference between just having your teeth straightened versus correcting your bite and achieving a smile that fits your face.

You’re must discern what’s right for you by asking some really good questions. In future videos, I will give you the most important questions to ask during your orthodontic consultation so you can make the best-informed decision regarding your orthodontic treatment.
