Achieve straight teeth without all the metal

Braces are a logical step for patients hoping to straighten their teeth and achieve their perfect smile. But some worry that metal braces will have a negative effect on their appearance. Fear not – there’s an effective way to get straight teeth without the metal hardware – Invisalign! E&S Orthodontics is your premier Peoria Invisalign provider.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an aesthetically conscious alternative to traditional metal braces. Instead, patients wear clear plastic aligners, which are designed and printed using 3D technology scans.

The aligner is constructed from a strong, reusable, BPA-free polyurethane plastic, and it’s customized for your mouth. Along with the creation of your aligners, your doctor will create a digital treatment plan along with the Invisalign team. This plan will involve a series of aligners, each designed to guide you toward the result you seek. Over time, the teeth will shift, creating your perfect smile.

Invisalign treatments were first introduced in 1997 and received Food and Drug Administration approval in 1998. In their two decades on the market, they’ve proven to be more than just a competitor for traditional braces – they’re an equally proven and effective orthodontic treatment system.

E&S Orthodontics has more than 10 years of experience with Invisalign treatment in our Peoria office, and both Drs. O El-Hillal and Wil Saavedra are certified Peoria Invisalign Preferred Providers. When you receive your Invisalign treatment from our Peoria Orthodontists, you’ll be in good hands.

How Invisalign Works

Getting started with Invisalign is simple:

  • 1 First, you’ll start with a FREE consultation, during which your doctor will examine your teeth to see if you are a good candidate for Invisalign and explain the benefits of Invisalign treatment.
  • 2 Next, your Peoria Orthodontist will conduct a short, digital iTero Element® scan of your teeth. (No messy putty required for a mold.) This scan provides an accurate 3D image of your teeth.
  • 3 Your custom treatment plan will be created, and you’ll even get to preview what your new smile will look like.
  • 4 Then, your aligners are custom made from Invisalign’s SmartTrack® material, which ensures a perfect fit. Each aligner is individually trimmed. Then, your aligners are examined for quality. Overall, the Invisalign process is the largest and most advanced customization process in the world.
  • 5 Lastly, you place your aligners in and start your journey toward perfect teeth. Approximately every 2 weeks, you’ll receive new aligners that will move you forward in your Invisalign treatment. And every 4-6 weeks, you’ll check in with your Peoria Orthodontist to make sure everything is on track.

Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign treatments provide several benefits:

  • The plastic aligners are more aesthetically pleasing than metal braces. In fact, most people won’t be able to tell you’re wearing trays at all.
  • They’re removable – traditional braces must be installed and removed by professionals. Invisalign aligners can be removed for brief periods (i.e. during big meals) but should still be worn 20-22 hours each day.
  • This also means less food restrictions, since you have no braces for food to get stuck in.
  • Less restrictions of activities. Aligners can be removed during contact sports and they’re pain-free while playing instruments.
  • They’re easy to clean – simply pull out your aligners, brush them and put them back.
  • Though metal braces are safe, Invisalign aligners significantly reduce the possibility of cuts and scrapes since there is no protruding metal.
  • Invisalign treatments work in roughly 1 – 1.5 years compared to treatment time of traditional braces. However, the exact amount of time may vary based on the severity and complexity of the recommended treatment.
  • You have a clear idea of what you’re getting into – with Invisalign, you can figure out everything from how your smile will look to how comfortable your teeth and gums will feel.

Invisalign Teen

Invisalign treatments are often preferred by adult patients but teens can benefit too. Invisalign Teen offers the same benefits and treatment process, giving teens piece of mind for big moments like school photos, athletic competitions, prom and graduation.

With Invisalign, teens have far less restrictions on activities, foods, and drinks, since the clear aligners are more comfortable and removable. This works well for an active teen with a schedule full of social events and extracurricular activities.

During these formative years, crooked teeth can have a detrimental impact on a teen’s self-esteem and confidence. Invisalign Teen gives them an opportunity to correct the problem while still feeling comfortable being themselves in front of others.

Even better, if your teen loses one of their aligners, replacement aligners are included. Just be sure to reach out to E&S Orthodontics as soon as possible so that treatment isn’t jeopardized.

Invisalign and Invisalign Teen isn’t right for everyone, but that’s something that can be determined during your FREE consultation.
