Meet Your Peoria Orthodontists
E&S Orthodontics was founded in 2004 by Dr. O El-Hillal and Dr. Wil Saavedra. Both doctors trained at the Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry at Philadelphia’s Temple University and share a passion for face-driven, non-extraction treatment.
Both Dr. O and Dr. Saavedra practice at the Peoria office, along with Dr. Sowards. Below, take a moment to get to know your Peoria Orthodontists.
Dr. O El-Hillal
Dr. O El-Hillal received his Bachelor’s Degree from Franklin & Marshall College, located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine, MBA, Master in Oral Biology, and Orthodontic Specialty degrees from Temple University’s School of Dentistry.
Dr. El-Hillal, known to patients as Dr. O, is a leader in the field of orthodontics. His work has been published in several professional journals. His goals to lead have led to several leadership roles during his training, including the title of Chief Resident. He’s one-half of the team responsible for bringing E&S Orthodontics to the Greater Phoenix Area. E&S has gone on to become the area’s leading provider of Damon Braces and Invisalign.
Dr. O is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Arizona Dental Association, and Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists. He is also an Invisalign Preferred Provider.
Aside from his expertise, Dr. O is known for his approachable, laidback communication style. He connects with patients and parents in a natural way that wins their trust and makes their experience one of a kind. Though his orthodontic practice is one of his greatest passions, he also enjoys spending quality time with family, as well as scuba diving, hiking, biking, running, and golfing.
Dr. Wil Saavedra
Dr. Wil Saavedra hails from Virginia, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology, at Radford University. At Temple University’s School of Dentistry, alongside Dr. O, he completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine, Master of Science in Oral Biology, and Orthodontic Specialty certificate.
Two of Dr. Saavedra’s greatest professional passions are learning and new technology. He remains dedicated to learning about, and instituting, the latest industry advancements at E&S Orthodontics. This ensures that the practice isn’t just one of the most advanced in Phoenix, but in the industry as a whole. E&S is known for groundbreaking treatment options like the Damon System and Invisalign.
Dr. Saavedra is also known for his meticulous attention to detail. He’s committed to helping his patients achieve the best possible results by exploring every angle and ensuring they have the full story before making any big decisions.
Dr. Saavedra is also an active member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Arizona Dental Association, and Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists. He too is an Invisalign Preferred Provider.
Outside of E&S, he enjoys spending time with his family, working out, biking, and developing his computer skills.
Dr. Sowards earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at Adams State University in Southern Colorado. There, he double majored in Math and Chemistry.
He went on to serve a 2-year mission with the Los Angeles, California branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before heading to the University of Colorado, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. He actively practiced as a pharmacist for the next 10 years.
Then, Dr. Sowards attended the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. After graduation, he served as a Commission Officer for the United States Public Health Service, a branch of the U.S. Navy. He served part of his tenure with the Indian Health Service, where he spent 4 years on the Navajo Reservations in Northern Arizona and New Mexico. During this time, he was trained in Pediatric Dentistry.
In 1990, Dr. Sowards earned his Specialty Degree in Orthodontics, with a major in Oral Biology. He was trained in all current orthodontic delivery systems, with a special emphasis on Burstone Segmental Mechanics.
Dr. Sowards went on to open his own orthodontic practice in Yuma, Arizona, where he provided orthodontic care for 25 years. For 15 of those years, he was a member of the Yuma Regional Hospital’s Cleft Palate Team. Regarding patient treatment, his main focal area of clinical interest was Distraction Osteogenesis Orthopedics.
In 2014, Dr. Sowards and his wife sold their orthodontic practice and relocated to the Valley in order to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Dr. Sowards joined the E&S Orthodontics team in 2017. He felt connected to the practice’s 5-star customer service, use of the most advanced technology systems, and the doctors’ pride in the quality of their orthodontic results. Dr. Sowards is licensed to practice in both Arizona and New Mexico.
Outside of work, he enjoys running, trout fishing, spending time with family, and staying up to date on the latest orthodontic news and developments.
