Meet Your Tolleson Orthodontists
Dr. O El-Hillal and Dr. Wil Saavedra founded E&S Orthodontics in 2004. The doctors bonded over their shared education – at the Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University, in Philadelphia – and their passion for non-extraction, face-driven treatment methods.
Dr. O and Dr. Saavedra both practice at the Tolleson office along with Dr. Sowards. Take a moment to get to know each of your Tolleson Orthodontists below.

Dr. Sowards earned his Bachelor of Science degree, with a double major in Math and Chemistry, from Southern Colorado’s Adams State University. After graduating, he served a 2-year mission with the Los Angeles Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
After his mission, he attended the University of Colorado, earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. For the next decade, he practiced as an active pharmacist.
Dr. Sowards then enrolled in the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. There, he earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and took his education to the United States Public Health Service, which is a branch of the U.S. Navy. He served as a Commission Officer and spent part of his tenure with the Indian Health Service. He spent 4 years on Navajo Reservations across New Mexico and Northern Arizona and focused on Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Sowards went on to earn his Specialty Degree in Orthodontics, with a major in Oral Biology, in 1990. He was thoroughly trained on all current orthodontic delivery systems, with a special focus on Burstone Segmental Mechanics.
After earning his Specialty Degree, Dr. Sowards opened his own orthodontic practice in Yuma, Arizona. He practiced there for 25 years, 15 of which he spent as a member of the Yuma Regional Hospital’s Cleft Palate Team. His main area of clinical interest, regarding patient treatment, was Distraction Osteogenesis Orthopedics.
In 2014, Dr. Sowards and his wife sold their practice and relocated to the Valley, with the hopes of being closer to their children and grandchildren.
In 2017, Dr. Sowards joined E&S Orthodontics. Among many other reasons, he was drawn to the practice because of its dedication to 5-star service, its commitment to understanding and using the most up-to-date and advanced technology, and the doctors’ pride in their results.
